Vladimir Putin congratulated Artistic Director and Head of Moscow Art Theatre Oleg Tabakov on his birthday.
The message reads, in part:
“A man of exceptional talent and energy, you have made your mark as an actor, director and teacher. You have earned the public’s genuine love. But as the true master you are, you never rest on your laurels and continue to work hard and fruitfully, uniting like-minded creative people around your captivating plans and ideas.”
Oleg Tabakov holds the title of People’s Artist of the USSR and has received Russian and Soviet state prizes and numerous theatre and cinema awards. He is one of the founders of the Moscow Sovremennik Theatre, director of the Moscow Art Theatre and Tabakerka Theatre, is an outstanding organiser and teacher, and an exceptional actor, who has played hundreds of roles in film and on the stage.
