Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences following the death of film director, screenplay writer and playwright Eldar Ryazanov.
The President said, in particular, in his message:
“Eldar Ryazanov has left us. He was a man of immense and rich talent and tremendous creative energy. His marvellous films have become true classics of Russian cinema and are a national treasure, a part of our country’s history.”
Mr Ryazanov, who was awarded the title of National Artist of the Soviet Union and won the USSR National Award, passed away in Moscow at the age of 88.
