Sevastopol Defence Museum added to the list of particularly valuable cultural heritage sites of Russia’s peoples

The President signed Executive Order To Enter the Federal State Public Cultural Institution State Museum of the Heroic Defence and Liberation of Sevastopol on the List of Particularly Valuable Sites of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of the Russian Federation.

Appropriate instructions were issued to the Russian Federation Government and the Culture Ministry.

More than 500,000 people a year visit the Museum of the Heroic Defence and Liberation of Sevastopol, founded in 1960. The museum features, among other exhibits, a Panorama of the Defence of Sevastopol in 1854–1855; a Diorama of the storm of Sapun Hill on May 7, 1944; the Malakhov Mound defence tower; St Vladimir Cathedral, where outstanding Russian admirals are buried; and the House Museum of Sevastopol Underground Fighters of 1942–1944. The museum is the centre for studies into the history of Sevastopol from its foundation in 1783 until present times.
