On December 25, at the Kremlin Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the Presidential Council for Culture and Ars.
The meeting will sum up the results of the Year of Literature in Russia, held in 2015 in line with a Presidential Executive Order, and discuss as proposals regarding the Year of Russian Cinema to be held in 2016.
The agenda also includes such issues as the priorities of Russia’s cultural and humanitarian development, ensuring artistic freedom and improving state support for professional creative activity, and the participation of public and professional organisations and unions in the implementation of the state culture policy.
The discussion will also cover the implementation of the Basic Principles of State Culture Policy, approved by a Presidential Executive Order in 2014.
The Presidential Council for Culture and Art has been operating since 1996. Its previous meeting chaired by the President took place on December 24, 2014.
