Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the 29th Nika National Film Award ceremony.
The message of greetings reads, in part:
“One of the oldest national prizes in the arts has a rich and glorious history, reflecting remarkable and unforgettable landmarks in the development of national film art, its major successes and achievements. It is important to cherish this unique cultural and intellectual asset and enhance the links of the times and traditions.
It is a pleasure to see that today Russian films by right enjoy high popularity among viewers and receive befitting awards at international film forums. Such success graphically reflects the enormous creative potential of domestic filmmaking and the talent and skills of film directors and actors, scriptwriters and camera operators – all who take part in filmmaking.
I’m sure that this Nika award ceremony that is taking place in the Year of Russian Cinema will be a major event both for the cinematographic public and for the guests of the event.”
The Nika prize was established in 1987. Prizewinners in all nominations are presented statuettes of the ancient winged Greek goddess Nike.
