Vladimir Putin sent greetings to participants, organisers and guests of the festival’s opening ceremony.
The message reads, in part:
“Over many years, the Moscow Film Festival has been an important date on the calendar of significant and key events of the international cinematographic season. And of course, it is always a real holiday for Moscow residents and visitors. Uniting both experienced masters and talented youth at its venues, the festival demonstrates a broad array of schools, styles and trends of modern art and always lives up to the expectations of the most demanding film aficionados.
I am sure that this year’s festival will become a high-profile artistic event, a source of pleasure for the jury and viewers. Owing to its remarkable premiers and its intense programme, the festival promises to leave a bright and unforgettable impression on everyone. It will help promote productive humanitarian cooperation and strengthen professional and personal contacts.”
The 38th Moscow International Film Festival is taking place in Moscow on June 23–30, 2016.
