Vladimir Putin expressed his profound condolences to Ernst Neizvestny’s family and friends on the sculptor’s passing.
The President’s message read, in part:
“Ernst Neizvestny was deservedly considered one of the greatest modern sculptors. He lived a long and memorable life. He witnessed the 20th century’s greatest events, fought bravely on the frontlines of the Great Patriotic War, and always stood firmly by his civic position and his lofty vocation of supreme craftsman and creator. His passing is an irrevocable loss for Russian and world culture.
His fond memory will live on in the hearts of his numerous friends, colleagues, and all who valued his unique talent”.
Renowned sculptor Ernst Neizvestny passed away in New York at the age of 91.
