Vladimir Putin visited a new sight of the Moscow Kremlin: museum windows that make it possible to view the archeological shafts on Ivanovskaya Square and see excavation sites and elements of ancient buildings.
The first museum window makes it possible to see part of the foundation of the Small Nikolayevsky Palace, and the second one, part of the foundation of the Church of St Alexis the Metropolitan, from the complex of buildings adjacent to the Chudov Monastery.
Archaeological findings were discovered in autumn of 2015 after the dismantling of the 14th building of the Moscow Kremlin, an administrative building that had no historical value and was not on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List.
Director of the RAS Institute of Archaeology Nikolai Makarov, Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky and Head of the Presidential Property Management Directorate Alexander Kolpakov told President Vladimir Putin about the work on the museum’s displays.
Mr Putin also visited Cathedral Square, where the main New Year’s tree is standing. It will stand there until the Epiphany holidays.
