Vladimir Putin sent his congratulations to the Rostropovich Vishnevskaya Foundation on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
”Galina Vishnevskaya and Mstislav Rostropovich, who would have turned 90 on March 27, were at the origins of the foundation.
These prominent figures of Russian and international culture were part of the genuine intelligentsia and true enthusiasts, as well as worthy successors to the remarkable traditions of philanthropy and charity which our country has been famous for since time immemorial.
The creation of your foundation is one of the outstanding examples of their multifaceted activity. Over the years, the foundation’s employees have engaged in an important and highly significant endeavour, which is to develop and implement ambitious programmes aimed at promoting children's health and high-tech medical care.
It is gratifying to know that this project is operative in many Russian regions and a number of foreign countries. Such important and truly significant work deserves sincere respect and support.“
