Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to participants and guests of the 30th Nika National Film Award ceremony.
The message reads, in part:
“Welcome to the Nika National Film Award ceremony.
For the past 30 years, Nika has been an important date in the calendar of the most significant events in our country’s cultural and social life, has determined the course of national filmmaking, has paid homage to our illustrious masters, and has made new stars.
To be highly regarded by colleagues and to become a winner of the legendary Nika is the dream of those working in all cinematographic professions, as this prestigious award is rightly considered a symbol of success and recognition, opening doors to new opportunities for further creative growth.
Today, the film academy members have a difficult and very important task – to sum up the results of 2016, which was declared the Year of Russian Cinema, and to announce the winners. I am sure that awards will go to the most deserving participants.
I hope all participants and guests have a wonderful and memorable time.”
