Vladimir Putin sent a message of congratulations to the participants of the event dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre.
The message reads, in part:
“The museum celebrates this anniversary as a large educational and research centre, which is widely known abroad our country. Its exposition is highly unique. It describes the life and spiritual traditions of Russian Jews and their contribution to the history of Russia, to its economy, science, culture, literature and society in a modern and interactive format.
“It is important that many events are reflected in the memories of ordinary people, their diaries and letters as well as photographs from family archives. This approach helps us to feel the atmosphere and the mood of that period, increase respect for the ancestors’ legacy among young people together with the values of tolerance, humanism, freedom and religious toleration.
“Another key task of the museum is to conserve the truth about the Great Patriotic War, about people who fought bravely against the Nazis and about the Holocaust tragedy.”
