Vladimir Putin has expressed his deepest condolences on the passing of singer and National Artist of the USSR Iosif Kobzon.
The message of condolences reads, in part:
“Iosif Kobzon was a true national artist, an outstanding figure in Russian culture and a person of enormous inner strength, courage and dignity.
He loved Russia with all his heart, always sought to benefit his country and selflessly helped everyone who needed support. He won the hearts of millions with his talent, artistic generosity and remarkable songs that will remain forever.”
In addition to his singing career, Iosif Kobzon played an active role in politics, public work, charity and business, and he was also a teacher.
Iosif Kobzon passed away on August 30 at the age of 80.
