The President will hold meeting of Council on Russian Language and will meet representatives of student construction brigade movement

On November 5, Vladimir Putin will chair a meeting of the Presidential Council on the Russian Language with its newly appointed members.

The discussion will cover issues of the implementation of the Federal Law On the State Language of the Russian Federation, support and promotion of the Russian language and literature abroad, and preparations for marking the 225th birth anniversary of Alexander Pushkin.

The Council on the Russian Language was set up in 2014 to ensure development, protection and support of the Russian language, to coordinate activities in international humanitarian cooperation on matters of developing, protecting and supporting the Russian language.

On August 2, 2019, a new make-up of the council was approved, to include, apart from leading Russian philologists and linguists, representatives of the teaching community, Russian literature historians, heads of literary museums, writers and publishers.

On the same day, the President will receive in the Kremlin representatives of the student brigade movement, which in 2019 marks its 60th anniversary and 15 years of contemporary development.

Among those invited are leaders of the Central Headquarters of the Russian Student Brigades, commanders of regional branches and winners of national labour projects.

Today, the Russian Student Brigades comprise 240,000 people who work in various fields – construction, medicine, agriculture and many others.
