Vladimir Putin congratulated the faculty, students, postgraduates and alumni of the Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov State School of Music on the institute’s 100th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“The rich and intense history of this educational institution dates back to 1919, to the opening of a public music school for children and adults in Moscow. Over the years, thanks to the creative and artistic work of many generations of teachers, mentors and organisers, the school developed into one of the leading specialised educational institutions in our country and produced a constellation of talented musicians, conductors and performers who found their calling in classical, popular and folk music or as academics and educators.
It is gratifying to see that these days the school is adopting new teaching methods and is involved in active research and educational work. Prestigious festivals and contests also take place here. I am certain that this approach will allow you to continue its dynamic development, preserve and multiply the remarkable traditions established by your predecessors – first and foremost, by outstanding cultural luminary Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov.”
