Vladimir Putin congratulated Nikolai Slichenko, Artistic Director of the Romen Theatre (Moscow Music and Drama Romani Theatre) and National Artist of the USSR, on his 85th birthday.
The message reads, in part:
“You have dedicated your talent to art and the famous Romen Theatre and won recognition as an excellent actor and director as well as a brilliant performer and mentor. Your eventful creative path and unique personal contribution to promoting original traditions of the Roma culture deserve the deepest respect.”
Since 1977, Nikolai Slichenko has been heading the staff of the unique Romen Theatre founded in 1931.
