The President signed Executive Order On Celebrating the 200th Birthday of Alexander Ostrovsky.
In connection with the 200th birthday of renowned Russian playwright Alexander Ostrovsky, to be marked in 2023, the President has resolved to organise celebratory events in 2023.
Corresponding instructions have been issued to the Government of the Russian Federation.
The works of Alexander Ostrovsky were a milestone in the development of Russian theatre. The author of over 50 plays, Ostrovsky created a monumental portrait of the life of various social groups in Russia in the second half of the 19th century. Today, his plays feature in the repertoires of many Russian theatres and widely used for screen adaptations.
