Vladimir Putin congratulated Leonid Shvartsman, an animation film artist, film director and National Artist of Russia, on his 101st birthday.
The message reads, in part:
“A talented artist and director, you did a great deal to develop the Russian animation school; during the years of tireless creative quest, you have created a unique collection of wonderful animation cartoons that everyone loves. Your selfless service to your chosen cause and your entire eventful professional career deserve profound and sincere respect.”
Leonid Shvartsman worked for Soyuzmultfilm Studios for more than 50 years, creating dozens of popular animated films. He was awarded the Presidential Prize for Writing and Art for Children and Young People.
