Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to the participants and guests of the first Rachmaninoff International Competition for Pianists, Composers and Conductors.
The message reads, in part:
“This impressive creative event presents highly promising young people from Russia and other countries. All of you are united by talent, sincere love for your chosen cause and a striving to build a professional career and make a contribution to the development of musical art. And, of course, you are inspired by the rich heritage of Sergei Rachmaninoff, an outstanding composer, conductor and pianist, a man of unique talent and a musician on a truly global scale.
It is gratifying to note that his ideas are still relevant and inspiring today. They promote educational activity, development of culture and continuity of generations. I am confident that the success of your competition and the achievements of its winners will become a significant contribution to preserving the memory of this great Russian composer and will facilitate the strengthening of humanitarian ties between countries and peoples.”
