Law on Russia’s Intangible Ethnocultural Heritage

Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Intangible Ethnocultural Heritage of the Russian Federation.

The Federal Law regulates relations pertaining to revealing, studying, utilising, updating, preserving and popularising intangible ethnocultural heritage assets of the Russian Federation.

In particular, it sets forth the list and categories of assets of the intangible ethnocultural heritage of the Russian Federation, in particular, oral folk arts, oral traditions and forms of their rendering in Russian and other languages and dialects of the peoples of the Russian Federation.

The Federal Law establishes the powers of the federal and regional executive government bodies and the rights of local self-government bodies as regards the intangible ethnocultural heritage of the Russian Federation, as well as the rights of the bearers and custodians of the intangible ethnocultural heritage of the Russian Federation, and the rights of individuals and legal entities involved in this sphere.
