Instructions following meeting with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia

Vladimir Putin approved a list of instructions following a meeting with historians and representatives of traditional religions of Russia, which took place on November 4, 2022.

The Government of the Russian Federation has been instructed to develop a branch of the Tauric Chersonesus State Historical and Archaeological Museum Reserve as part of the Stone Grave historical and archaeological museum-reserve (Zaporozhye Region).

The government has also been instructed to take measures to promote the heroes of Russian history and folklore that meet traditional values, including the use of images of these heroes in the production of artistic, print, souvenir and other replicable products and consumer goods.

The Russian Government, jointly with the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military Historical Society, and the Russian Society Znaniye, have been instructed to develop mechanisms for popularising modern scientific knowledge among the youth primarily related to the history of Russia.

The Russian Government, with the executive authorities of the Donetsk People's Republic, the Lugansk People's Republic, the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, and with the Russian Historical Society, have been instructed to develop a package of measures to restore destroyed buildings and overhaul damaged buildings, upgrade technological and exhibition equipment, as well as storage areas for local history and military historical museums in these regions of the Russian Federation, and create modern exhibitions in these museums, as well as to ensure the phased implementation of these measures.

Instructions for the Ministry of Education, jointly with a number of organisations, concern the study of history of Russia in the general context of world history, as well as the study of the history of a given Russian region (the history of a native land) in the context of the history of Russia; the development of a unified approach to teaching the history of the native land and the possibility of conducting relevant classes at local history museums.

The Ministry of Education, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Historical Society have been instructed to prepare materials for the second Russia-Africa summit, as well as to ensure the inclusion of scholarly works from scientific organisations and universities in the plans for scientific research on the history of the origin, development and consequences of the colonial policies of European states on the African continent and other continents.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education together with the Interdepartmental Commission for Historical Education, the Russian Historical Society, and with the participation of interested federal executive bodies, have been instructed to consider the development and incorporation into university programmes of a study course (module) Religious History of Russia.
