The President sent greetings to the faculty, students and alumni of the National State Gerasimov University of Cinematography (VGIK), as well as participants in the VGIK International Student Festival, on the university’s 105th anniversary.
The message reads, in part:
“I would like to congratulate you on a significant milestone, the 105th anniversary of the National State Gerasimov University of Cinematography.
Over the years, the legendary VGIK has contributed remarkable and unforgettable chapters to the history of both national and global cinema, becoming a nurturing ground for many generations of talented actors, directors, camera men, film critics, animators and artists.
I am pleased to note that while the university’s current staff diligently uphold the traditions and legacy of their predecessors, they also remain open to bold ideas and innovative concepts, continuously exploring new creative horizons. It is symbolic that these days mark the conclusion of the VGIK International Student Festival, which has for many years brought together gifted young people from various Russian regions and foreign countries, plays a vital role in helping them assert their identities and become fully-fledged professionals.
I wish every success, inspiration and the very best to all members of the VGIK faculty and student body.”
