Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of instructions following a September 25 meeting with Russian theatre personalities.
Instructions aimed at developing the theatrical arts in Russia and making theatre accessible to people were issued jointly to the Ministry of Culture and executive authorities of the Russian regions. The instructions concern grants to theatres and support for their touring activities.
The Government and various ministers were given instructions pertaining to financial issues, making certain amendments to legislation concerning the particulars of staging theatrical plays, and supporting specialised regular print publications covering theatrical arts.
Regional executive authorities were recommended to take measures to support theatres under their responsibility.
