Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
During the conversation, the two leaders discussed in detail the dramatic events currently unfolding in Ukraine and expressed serious concern over the increased tension that has led to many casualties. The Russian President and German Chancellor expressed a common opinion noting that it is necessary to take urgent measures in order to stabilise the situation in Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin also underlined that it is important for Western countries to give up their accusatory attitude towards Ukraine’s incumbent leadership and stressed the importance of strongly condemning the opposition forces liable for organising unlawful extremist and terrorist activities.
Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel agreed to stay in contact on this problem.
