Vladimir Putin sent his condolences to Mercedes Barcha Pardo following the death of her husband, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
The President said in his message that a great writer and thinker has left this life, a man who always remained true to the noble ideals of humanism and justice, and whose books have inspired generations of people not just in Latin America but all around the world.
Mr Putin noted that Gabriel Garcia Marquez was a good friend of Russia.
