Vladimir Putin congratulated heads of a number of countries on the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War

May 8, 2015

The President congratulated the presidents of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and also the citizens of Georgia and Ukraine on the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Mr Putin said in his messages that this is the common victory and priceless treasure for the peoples of all of these countries, who fought shoulder-to-shoulder against a ruthless enemy and saved the world from Nazism. It is our duty today to hold sacred and preserve the fallen heroes’ memory, give war veterans the care and attention they deserve, and make sure these tragic events of the past never repeat themselves.

The President said he is confident that the brotherhood and friendship forged during the Great Patriotic War will continue to help strengthen the relations between these peoples and offer a worthy example for today’s and future generations.

Mr Putin asked his counterparts to pass on his words of gratitude to Great Patriotic War veterans living in their countries and wished them good health and prosperity.
