Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, whom he congratulated warmly on his birthday.
The two presidents also discussed bilateral cooperation, the regional agenda, and planned future bilateral contacts at top level.
Earlier in the day, Mr Putin sent Mr Berdimuhamedov a message of congratulations on his birthday.
The President said, in particular, in his message:
“You deservedly enjoy great respect at home and abroad as an experienced and far-sighted politician who has done much for Turkmenistan’s social and economic development.
It would be difficult to overestimate your personal contribution to developing the mutually advantageous cooperation between our countries. I value highly the constructive relations that we have built. I hope to continue our dialogue and close work together to further strengthen our bilateral ties in all areas and our cooperation as partners to resolve current international issues.”
