Ratification of Treaty on Fundamentals of Relations between Russia and Dominica

The President signed the Federal Law On the Ratification of the Treaty on the Fundamentals of Relations between the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

The Treaty was signed in New York on September 28, 2018.

Under the Treaty, the sides pledge to develop bilateral relations in strict compliance with the UN Charter, the principles of sovereign equality of states, self-determination of nations, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-interference in the internal affairs of states, as well as other universally recognised principles and norms of international law.

The Treaty stipulates that the sides will cooperate at the UN and other regional and international organisations and forums to strengthen peace, stability and security and to create a foundation for the socioeconomic development and prosperity of their nations.

The Treaty also stipulates that the sides will promote mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and the economy, in the social sphere, culture, education, sports, healthcare, emergencies prevention and relief, as well as the fight against transnational organised crime.

Under the Treaty, the sides will join their efforts against international terrorism in accordance with the bilateral and multilateral international treaties that both countries signed.
