The President signed the Federal Law On Amending Article 8 of the Federal Law On the Procedure for Providing Military and Civilian Personnel by the Russian Federation for Involvement in Operations to Maintain or Restore International Peace and Security.
The Federal Law states that military personnel, deployed for involvement in peacekeeping operations, shall be recruited on a voluntary basis from among service personnel who have completed preliminary specialised training.
Additionally, the Federal Law authorises the President of the Russian Federation to implement measures to defend the Russian Federation and its citizens in case foreign and/or international (interstate) agencies (organisations) adopt decisions or take action contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation and/or the foundations of public law and order of the Russian Federation.
