Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Ratification of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Presence of the Russian Federation's Black Sea Fleet in Ukrainian Territory.
The Agreement was signed in Kharkov on April 21, 2010.
The Federal Law was passed by the State Duma on April 27, 2010 and approved by the Federation Council on April 28, 2010.
The provisions of the Agreement extend the Agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Status and Conditions of the Presence of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet in Ukrainian territory of May 28, 1997; the Agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine on the Parameters of the Division of the Black Sea Fleet of May 28, 1997; and the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Ukraine on the Reciprocal Payments Occasioned by the Division of the Black Sea Fleet and the Presence of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet in Ukrainian territory of May 28, 1997. These agreements are extended for 25 years as of May 28, 2017, followed by an optional five-year extension after the term expires. The presence of the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet in Ukrainian territory will be subject to an annual rent running as of May 28, 2017.
