Greetings to Chairman of State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong-un

August 15, 2025

Vladimir Putin extended his greetings to Chairman of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Kim Jong-un on National Liberation Day.

The President’s message reads, in part:

“I would like State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin to convey to you my warmest wishes on the national holiday of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea – Liberation Day.

Eight decades ago, Red Army units alongside detachments of Korean patriots inflicted a crushing defeat on the Kwantung Army, liberating Korea from decades of Japanese colonial oppression.

It is deeply significant that the bonds of military brotherhood, friendship, and mutual assistance, forged in those heroic wartime years, remain as unshakable today as they were back then. This was powerfully confirmed by the North Korean service members’ heroic participation in the liberation of parts of Russia’s Kursk Region from the Ukrainian invaders. The Russian people will forever honour the memory of their courage and dedication.

I am confident that the steadfast implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, concluded last year in Pyongyang, will pave the way for further strengthening of mutually beneficial Russian-Korean cooperation across all fields. By acting in unison, Russia and the DPRK will not only effectively safeguard their sovereignty but also make a decisive contribution to building a fairer, multipolar world order.

I wish you good health and continued success in your public service, as well as well-being and prosperity to all your fellow citizens.”
