The President of Russia arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan on a state visit and also to take part in the Russia-Central Asia second summit and the CIS Heads of State Council meeting. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon welcomed Vladimir Putin at the airplane ramp.
On the evening of October 8, the Head of the Russian state visited the National Unity and Revival of Tajikistan memorial complex where he laid a wreath at the monument to Ismail Samani.
Additionally, an informal luncheon was held on the grounds of the Iram botanical garden. Prior to the event, Vladimir Putin presented Emomali Rahmon with a painting titled “Tajik Friends” by the Soviet artist Max Birstein, as well as a book entitled “Tajiks,” dedicated to the history of the Tajik people.

Russian-Tajikistan talks will be held during the state visit. The two countries’ leaders are to discuss the development of their strategic partnership and allied relations in a variety of areas.
The Russia-Central Asia second summit agenda for October 9 includes further fostering cooperation between Russia and the region’s countries in trade, the economy, finance, industry, logistics, energy and other sectors.
The CIS Heads of State Council meeting on October 10 will consider practical aspects of interacting within the Commonwealth, designate the future main areas of work and discuss current international and regional issues.
Vladimir Putin is also supposed to meet with some state leaders.
