Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on Independence Day, the country’s national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“During my recent visit to Armenia I was once again inspired to see that the centuries-old traditions of Russian-Armenian friendship and good-neighbourly relations continue to grow strong. Our peoples are proud of the glorious pages of our shared history, our joint successes and victories. An illustrative example of this is the restoration of the Hill of Honour memorial complex, in the opening of which we both participated. We thank the people of Armenia for their respect for the memory of our soldiers.
Today Russia and Armenia are building a strategic partnership on a solid foundation of trust and cooperation, are engaging in an active political dialogue and coordinating their actions on regional and international arenas with increasing effectiveness. We have reached a number of important decisions on launching joint projects in the economy, including in innovation sectors, and the humanitarian sphere.
I am confident that implementation of these agreements will further intensify bilateral relations to the benefit of our nations and for peace and stability in the South Caucasus.”
