Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of South Korea Lee Myung-Bak on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea.
The message reads, in part:
“I note with satisfaction the extensive joint efforts made during this period to promote interstate cooperation in the political sphere, as well as trade and economic ties and humanitarian contacts. A close relationship based on trust has developed between our two countries, and at present our relations are reaching the level of strategic partnership. This was fully confirmed by our recent meeting at the Global Policy Forum in Yaroslavl.
I am confident that my forthcoming visit to Korea and the top-level talks will give a new impetus to Russian-Korean relations of friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation, and will contribute to strengthening peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia as a whole.”
