Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of China Hu Jintao on the 61st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
The message reads, in part:
“These last decades have brought tremendous change to China. Your country celebrates this big occasion today with impressive achievements to its name, a fast-growing economy, and increasing international influence. I received further confirmation of this during my visit to the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, which has been unprecedented in terms of its success and scale.
I am grateful for the warm welcome and hospitality that I received on Chinese soil during my official visit to your country. I am sure that the important agreements we reached will help us to strengthen our mutual political trust and give a big boost to our cooperation in sectors of strategic importance for our countries, expand our scientific-technical and humanitarian ties, and coordinate our actions more closely in international affairs.
Relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented high level now. Our strategic partnership is built on solid historic traditions of good-neighbourliness and mutual respect, and covers all areas of our bilateral ties.
We place great value on the attention that you accord to developing the friendship and cooperation between our countries. We hope to continue working closely together for the benefit of our countries’ and peoples’ long-term interests.
We are genuinely happy to see the Chinese people’s successes in carrying out the ambitious social and economic transformations that have turned China into an influential country and one of global development leaders.”
