Dmitry Medvedev congratulated President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on Independence Day, the country’s national holiday.
The message reads, in part:
“Kazakhstan’s people are deservedly proud of their achievements in state-building, social and economic development, education, science and culture.
The Kazakhstani leadership’s steady course of effective use of the country’s resources in the interests of Kazakhstan’s people, and its responsible and initiative-taking policy on the international stage have earned the country much respect around the world. This was clearly evidenced by the recent OSCE summit in Astana, which wrote a new page in the organisation’s history.
Russia and Kazakhstan share rich historic traditions of friendship and good-neighbourliness. The strategic partnership between our countries sets a positive dynamic today for integration across the Eurasian continent. We are successfully carrying out our projects to build the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space within the Eurasian Economic Community, and are combining our efforts to deepen cooperation in the CIS and CSTO and strengthen regional security and stability.
We will continue to develop and enrich the multi-faceted dialogue between our countries. I am confident that our countries’ strong potential for fruitful cooperation will continue to bring benefits to our peoples and serve the interests of stability and prosperity throughout the Eurasian region.”
