Dmitry Medvedev signed Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation to Regulate Nuclear Energy Use Safety.
The amendments concern regulation of relations affecting safe operation of nuclear energy facilities and activities in the sphere of nuclear energy use.
In particular, the law specifies types of activities in the sphere of nuclear energy use that are subject to licensing, and clarifies licensing procedures.
The law sets forth the requirements for assessing safety of nuclear installations and storage facilities for nuclear materials and radioactive substances, as well as radioactive waste. It also increases administrative liability for violating regulations governing the use of nuclear energy and accounting of nuclear materials and radioactive waste.
