In Kemerovo, Mr Putin will hold the fourth meeting of the Commission for Energy Industry and Environmental Security Development Strategy.
The meeting will discuss restructuring in the coal sector and implementation of social programmes. The main focus will be on developing the domestic coal market through increased use of coal-powered generation in the energy and housing and utilities sectors. Results for 2012 show that the coal sector grew in all areas: production, processing, and exports. The President will hold video linkups with several coal producing companies.
Taking part in the meeting will be the Commission’s permanent members, federal ministers and federal agency heads, regional governors, and the directors of big producer companies.
The Commission for Energy Industry and Environmental Security Development Strategy was established by the Presidential Executive Order of June 15, 2012. Its members include business and government representatives. Its main tasks are to coordinate energy sector development efforts by the authorities at the different levels and ensure industrial, energy and environmental security and rational use and regeneration of the raw materials resource base.
The President will also have an informal meeting with Kemerovo Region miners while visiting the coal producing region.
