The President approved a list of instructions following the November 14, 2017 meeting on the development of electric power industry.
The Government of the Russian Federation has been instructed, together with regional executive bodies and leading business and entrepreneur associations, to develop mechanisms to attract investment for upgrading heat and power generation facilities, with due regard to respective proposals from the Ministry of Energy.
At the same time, special attention should be paid to preventing electricity rate increases from exceeding the inflation rate, construction of remote electricity generation facilities, development of electricity supply networks, upgrading nuclear power facilities, and the development of renewable energy sources.
The Government was also instructed to present proposals on legislative amendments that will promote investment in upgrading heat and power generation facilities.
