Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to the participants, organisers and guests of the 6th Future Leaders Forum of the World Petroleum Council, taking place June 23–28 in St Petersburg.
The message reads in part:
“It is important that Russia has been selected as a venue for this large-scale event. I perceive this as recognition of Russia’s substantial contribution to expanding international cooperation in the energy sector and to the World Petroleum Council’s activities. And, of course, this highlights the successful experience of preparing for and holding the sector’s main event, the World Petroleum Congress, in Moscow in 2014.
The current forum provides participants with favourable opportunities for professional communication with influential scientists, experts and CEOs of leading companies from various countries. This cooperation has great significance because the oil and gas sector is called on to accomplish more and more difficult and responsible tasks with each passing year. The sector is developing dynamically, and international cooperation is becoming a key condition for effectively implementing major fuel and energy projects, for reliably guaranteeing energy security and reducing environmental risks.
The future of the oil and gas sector, its competitiveness and expanding resource potential largely depend on you, young leaders, and on your readiness to make bold and unconventional decisions and to expand equitable mutually beneficial cooperation.”
