As part of his working trip to Rostov-on-Don, Vladimir Putin inspected Platov International Airport located 30 km away from the city and commissioned in December 2017.
The Head of State inspected the infrastructure of the new airport, saw the renovation project of the old Rostov terminal and visited the departure zone for domestic flights.
Platov International Airport is the first airport in modern Russia with a passenger capacity of over a million people per year.
The airport can accept all kinds of aircraft. The hub provides regular flights to 27 destinations in Russia and abroad. There are also charter flights to the most popular tourist destinations.
The project was implemented through a public-private partnership as part of the Development of the Transport System in Russia by 2020 federal programme and preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The opening of the new airport will promote the economic, industrial and social development of Rostov Region and the entire south of Russia.
