The meeting will focus on the comprehensive plan to modernise and expand the mainline infrastructure. Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh and Energy Minister Alexander Novak will make reports.
The participants will also consider a number of major current issues.
***
The comprehensive plan has been developed in compliance with one of the items of the Presidential Executive Order of May 7, 2018, On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation until 2024.
Implementation of the plan will ensure the resolution of major tasks bearing on the transport infrastructure, notably the construction and upgrading of motor roads on the Europe–Western China route, a buildup of the capacity of sea ports, development of the Northern Sea Route, formation of cargo logistics centres and an increase in the capacity of the Baikal-Amur Railway and the Trans-Siberian Railway.
An equally important task of the plan is the electrification of major transport corridors, steady energy supply to all territories, primarily Crimea, Sevastopol, Kaliningrad and the Far Eastern region, and the introduction of intellectual systems of network management.
