Meeting with Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov

October 28, 2019, Novo-Ogaryovo, Moscow Region

Vladimir Putin held a working meeting with Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov. They discussed the socioeconomic situation in the region, the implementation of several industrial investment projects, the construction of a junction in Khimki, healthcare and other topical issues.

According to the Governor, the budget, which currently stands at about 750 billion rubles, is expected to increase by 8 percent this year. The population of the region is growing, with the region set to add 76,000–79,000 people this year to its population of 7.6 million.

New plants are being established in industrial parks: a German plant has opened, the Italians have doubled production in the Solnechnogorsk District, Russian companies are operating, and the Zagorsk Pipe Plant is developing. Both foreign and Russian manufacturers come to work in the region.

The Moscow Region has a large social programme, in particular, the Active Longevity project involving about two million people. The region receives mobile medical units as part of national projects.

Answering the President’s question on the construction industry’s transition to new financing principles and the situation with defrauded homebuyers, Andrei Vorobyov said that in over five years 60,000 housing equity holders had solved their problems, with 27,000 remaining. Active work is underway with DOM.RF and the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities.

The Governor added that in line with the President’s instruction, two children’s hospitals are in the design stage. The region is also building two children’s education centres – a physics and technology high school and the Primakov gymnasium.
