Order on measures to prevent and clean up environmental pollution in Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk Region

The President signed the Order On Measures to Prevent and Clean up Environmental Pollution in Usolye-Sibirskoye, Irkutsk Region.

In order to reduce environmental risks due to the negative impact of economic operations pertaining to the manufacturing of chemical products in the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye in Irkutsk Region, the Government has been instructed to approve, within a period of three months, a plan of measures (roadmap) to prevent and clean up environmental pollution in that territory and to take steps to implement this plan.

The following orders have also been issued:

The Defence Ministry is to take part in the development and implementation of the plan of measures (roadmap);

The National Guard is to protect in accordance with the established procedure the territory where economic operations pertaining to the manufacturing of chemical products were conducted;

The Emergencies Ministry is to monitor the situation on that territory;

The Healthcare Ministry is to provide medical assistance to the personnel of organisations responsible for eliminating environmental pollution.

The President also ordered the establishment of an interagency working group on preventing and eliminating environmental pollution in the city of Usolye-Sibirskoye. Deputy Prime Minister Viktoria Abramchenko has been appointed head of the interagency working group.

The Government is to consider the allocation of funds from the federal budget for the implementation of these instructions.
