The President had a working meeting with Primorye Territory Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.
At the beginning of his report, the Governor said that the construction of a choreographic and music school in conjunction with a boarding school and a building for teachers is nearing completion on Russky Island. The cultural and educational cluster that is under construction on the President’s instructions in Vladivostok will be located in the centre of the city and on Russky Island. Mr Kozhemyako also spoke about housing construction with a view to resolving the problem of defrauded co-investors in residential construction projects – in two years, 2,664 families had received keys to their flats. It remains to build nine residential buildings.
As for the economic situation, the Governor said the territory was gradually overcoming the pandemic crisis. Its GRP has reached the pre-crisis level of 1.79 trillion rubles. Agriculture is making headway, construction and transportation services are growing. Turnover via ports has increased by 4 percent. Unfortunately, there is a decline in the extractive sector – coal and metallic ore, and the chemical industry, in the city of Dalnegorsk, in particular.
The Governor asked the President to support the development of Dalnegorsk with a population of 40,000 and an agglomeration of three districts inhabited by 120,000. It is necessary to build a pipeline to supply the town of Arsenyev with gas. This pipeline would encourage the development of the entire northern cluster. About 200,000 people live there, including in Arsenyev. This would drastically change the economy and configuration of companies and would enhance the interest of people, including entrepreneurs, in this area. The city of Arsenyev has two plants. The Askold plant produces high- and low-pressure pipeline fixtures. The Progress aviation plant manufactures Ka-52 Alligator helicopters. Its new medium-range K-62 helicopters have no counterparts so far and will become operational next year. Mr Kozhemyako believes that the supply of gas to this cluster will encourage considerable economic growth and improve the social circumstances of its residents.
The President promised to review a letter from the region on this subject. He also promised to meet another request of the Governor – on the celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Vladimir Arsenyev in 2022. Arsenyev was a Russian traveller, geographer, ethnographer and writer who studied the Far East.
