On September 8, Vladimir Putin will take part, via videoconference, in a ceremony marking the opening of new and reconstructed transport network sections in several regions, including the M12 and M5 motorways, as well as the Yekaterinburg Ring Road.

The first 23-kilometre section of the M12 Moscow-Kazan route will link the Central Ring Road with the Moscow Outer Ring. A 40-km section of the M5 Yekaterinburg-Chelyabinsk route, now under reconstruction, will open to traffic. Consequently, the entire route linking both cities will have four lanes. The third stage of the Yekaterinburg Ring Road will completely encircle the capital of the Sverdlovsk Region.

The new road sections not only reduce the load on transport networks in several regions but also facilitate long-distance traffic as they are parts of a transport corridor from St Petersburg to Chelyabinsk and Tyumen.
