Meeting with Yevgeny Pervyshov

November 4, 2024, The Kremlin, Moscow

The President met with Yevgeny Pervyshov, a newly appointed by a Presidential Executive Order Acting Head of the Tambov Region.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr Pervyshov, we planned on having this meeting earlier. In any case, when I met with you and your colleagues, I mentioned that we would definitely see each other later.

I am aware that you are familiar with the offer. What do you think about it? Please go ahead.

Yevgeny Pervyshov: Mr President, indeed, I was informed about your offer. Without a doubt, I will accept it. It is a great honour for me. The skills that I have and the knowledge that I am receiving as a member of the retraining programme Time of Heroes, which you approved, I believe will help me put to good use everything that I just mentioned in the Tambov Region.

I will need some time to talk with the people and assess what can be done to ensure the socioeconomic growth in that region. Once I have gathered the necessary proposals for implementing the outlined plans, with your permission, I will provide you with an action plan for this region

Vladimir Putin: Mr Pervyshov, we had this discussion during our last meeting, when I met with everyone. Without a doubt, everyone who “crosses the ribbon” is a hero. Clearly, these people are risking their lives and health. This is an accurate definition and nothing about it is far-fetched. Still, going about the functions that lie ahead of you calls for specific knowledge and set of skills, as well as a predisposition to operate in the civilian sphere that is marked by a high degree of responsibility.

You have all it takes to do this job effectively. You started your career as a joiner at the Sedin Machine-Building Plant in Krasnodar. Then, you worked at an oil refinery, served as a deputy director at the 30th Anniversary of Victory Park, and became a deputy. After that, you were the mayor of Krasnodar, and later, deputy governor. You have an excellent, truly impressive track record. I look forward to the people of Tambov welcoming you as one of their own since you had heart to take part in the special military operation and to honourably perform your duty to the country.

However, you must do your best to justify the trust that the people may ultimately vest in you. You will need to delve deep into the challenges facing this region, since many of them need to be tackled without delay, and it is essential to keep working on addressing them. I am counting on you in this regard.

Yevgeny Pervyshov: Thank you, Mr President.

I mentioned earlier that I will take on this challenge. I know I will run into difficulties, but I plan to overcome them alongside the people of the Tambov Region. As you noted, earning trust is crucial. Earning it is not enough, though, since I will also need to justify it over time.

So, I will do my best to apply all my skills and knowledge to fulfil every goal that you have set for this region.
