President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev: Hello Vladivostok!

How are you feeling? I can hear that your mood is great!

It is a real pleasure to be able to be here with you on this special day – the 150th anniversary of your city’s founding.

You have a very beautiful city, beautiful winter and summer, but especially wonderful just now. I am sure that it will become even more beautiful, even better with each passing day and month.

I think we should say a big thank you to the many people who built this city, above all, to Nikolai Muravyov-Amursky. This is where everything began, and I am sure that Vladivostok has a very bright future ahead.

It is with this goal in mind that we are working hard now to beautify and develop this city we all love. We have plenty more to do, plenty more to build. I want you to know that as our country sees it, as Moscow sees it, all that we are doing, including hosting such big events as the 2012 APEC summit, is not about scoring foreign policy points for Russia, important though this is, but is about you. We are doing this for you, and in order to make Vladivostok an even more wonderful place and the pride of our country.

Happy holiday, dear friends! Hurrah!
