The President signed the Federal Law On the Russian Federation’s Accession to the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled.
The Marrakesh Treaty was adopted at the Diplomatic Conference of the World Intellectual Property Organisation in Marrakesh, Morocco, on June 27, 2013.
The Marrakesh Treaty sets forth a number of restrictions and exemptions from the copyright law that allow providing better access for the blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled people to books, magazines, study materials and other print publications. Additionally, the treaty facilitates international exchange of publications in formats accessible to the said categories of readers.
