Co-financing of support for non-profit organisations at regional level to continue in 2023

November 3, 2022

First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko chaired a meeting of the Coordinating Committee on holding Presidential grant competitions to promote civil society, which summed up the results of the projects supported following the selection and completed in 2021, and considered co-financing similar regional competitions for non-profit organisations.

The Presidential Grants Foundation’s mechanism for co-financing support for socially oriented non-profit organisations, carried out by the executive authorities of Russian regions on a competitive basis, has been in force since January 2021. The Foundation allocated 1.6 billion rubles for these purposes in 2021, and two billion rubles in 2022.

During the meeting, the Coordinating Committee determined the conditions and procedure for co-financing in 2023.

The Coordinating Committee also examined a report on the results of the projects supported by the Foundation directly and completed in 2021, and chose the top 100.

In total, socially oriented non-profit organisations have launched 32,000 projects based on the results of 14 competitions held from April 2017 to September 2022, and two years of co-financing programmes for regional competitions. The total budget of these initiatives, including attracted co-financing, has reached 100 billion rubles.

An independent review of initiatives contending for grants in 2023 is underway as part of the next contest. Overall, 10,615 projects have been submitted. The winners will be chosen by the Coordinating Committee in January 2023.
