Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation.
The federal law is designed to increase liability for catching and trading (including keeping, transporting and selling) wild animals and aquatic biological resources listed in the Russian Federation’s Red Data Book and (or) those protected by Russia’s international treaties, as well as their illegal trafficking.
Amendments have been introduced into Russia’s Criminal Code aimed at confiscating money, valuables and other property obtained through criminal activity in this field.
